Raven Banner and Anchor Bay Canada
Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada and Raven Banner Entertainment have partnered to take the home entertainment distribution rights for Housebound, a New Zealand genre film from director Gerard Johnstone.
The film follows the story of Kylie Bucknell, who has to move to her potentially haunted childhood home after she is forced into house arrest by the courts. Housebound stars Morgana O’Reilly, Rima Te Waita, Glen-Paul Waru and Millen Baird.
Houseband has screened at SXSW, the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Toronto After Dark Film Festival. The film also won the HR Giger Narcisse Award for best feature film at the 2014 edition of the Neuchatel International Fantasy Film Festival.
Multiple Media Entertainment
Toronto-based Multiple Media Entertainment has picked up the exclusive Canadian distribution rights to Joe Hahn’s feature directorial debut Mall.
The film from Hahn, who is also a member of the rock group Linkin Park, will have a theatrical run in Toronto starting on Oct. 24 at Big Picture Cinemas (formerly known as The Projection Booth Theatre), and will be available on iTunes starting Oct. 31. Additional VOD and pay-per-view windows will open up in November.
Mall stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Gina Gershon, Cameron Monaghan, Peter Stormare and James Frenchville. D’Onofrio also served as a writer on the film, along with Joe Vinciguerra and Sam Bisbee, which was adapted from a novel by the same name from Eric Bogosian. Producers on Mall were D’Onofrio and Sam Maydew through Silver Lining Entertainment.
